Medusan Chain Shroud
The Medusan Chain Shroud were Solar Auxilia Regiments sworn to the Iron Hands during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
History
Infamously callous towards the wider Imperial Army, the Medusan Chain Shroud were the only established by the Iron Hands in the final decades of the Great Crusade as their fleets pushed deeper into the Galaxy and required auxiliaries. Despite their name, they were in fact not raised from Medusa. Rather, they were preexisting Solar Auxilia units that were "awarded" the right as induction Legion auxilia after their combat records were analyzed by the Iron Hands. Rotated back to the Medusan Reach, these cohorts underwent massive rearmament programs as well as involuntary cerebral augmentation to render them more subservient. Despite their service, they were forbidden from setting foot on Medusa itself.[2]
The Medusan Chain Shroud fought beside the Iron Hands during the Horus Heresy.[1]
