Meliniel
Meliniel is an Autarch of Biel-Tan and twin to the Farseer Lathriel.
History
During the fracturing of Biel-Tan, he led the defences of the Craftworld against Chaos Daemons.[1a] At first he had a sharply negative attitude towards the Ynnari,[1b] but later recognized the need to cooperate with them, & was fully converted to their cause.[1с]
Meliniel became grand strategist of the Ynnari, leading their combined forces in numerous battles as befit an Autarch of his stature, along with his Lieutenant, the surprisingly loyal Drukhari ex-Dracon Azkahr [2a]. He coordinated the Ynnari defence after their betrayal by the genestealer-corrupted Eldar of the lost Craftworld of Zaisuthra.[2b]
When the Ynnari made it to the fabled Gate of Malice at the heart of Zaisuthra, Meliniel was the only living Eldar other than Yvraine to resist the all-consuming blood lust of the Warshard of Khaine, which made the rest of the Eldar descend into a kinslaying murderous rage. He stood alone against the Warshard, most powerful of the Avatars of Khaine, until with help from Iyanna Arienal, the Yncarne, & Althenian, the monster was defeated. The Ynnari discovered The Heart of Eldanesh in the tomb of Eldanesh guarded by the avatar, & Meliniel merged with the powerful gemstone, turning into Meliniel Pureheart, Avenger of Eldanesh, now being able to transform into the primal Avatar of Khaine at will.[2c]
Later during the battle on Agarimethea, Meliniel willingly summons the power of the Warshard to battle a Keeper of Secrets.[3]
Wargear
Meliniel wears the armour of an Autarch, painted red in the colours of the Ynnari, & wields Ahz-ashir, known as the striking bolt, an heirloom power spear from Biel-tan.[2a]
