Merrat Gavallan

Merrat Gavallan was a Space Marine of the Grey Knights Chapter. He was the former Brotherhood Champion and Castellan of the Purifiers and the Warden of the Blade — keeper of the cursed Blade of Antwyr.[1a]
Commanding a group of Purifiers including the young Garran Crowe to Sandava II to combat a Daemonic outbreak, during the fighting Gavallan was confronted by the Keeper of Secrets Mnay'salath. Weakened by years of resisting the Blade of Antwyr, the Greater Daemon was able to trick Gavallan into releasing the blade which was then used to possess Governor Otto Glas. Glas then killed Gavallan with his own Blade.[1b] On his death, Garran Crowe took up his position.[1a][1b]
