Mount Ararat

Mount Ararat is a mountain on Terra where the nascent Imperium betrayed and executed their Thunder Warrior forces at the end of the Unification Wars, just before the Great Crusade began. This culling was done of grey armoured warriors "clad all in grey, dark as the clouds of a storm, and branded all as one", according to local hill nomads who witnessed the massacre. Some believe this execution force that betrayed the Thunder Warriors was what would become the First Astartes Legion. This event was heavily covered up by the propaganda of Imperial remembrancers who tell an extremely different tale of the Thunder Warriors' heroic last stand against enemy forces.^[1]
