A Warp Guide, sometimes known as Navigator Primaris[1] or Principle Navigator[2], is a term indicating a Navigator,[1][2] usually an elder navigational officer,[2] residing within a spaceship leading a fleet, whether it is a flagship or other vessel. It is they who are charged with leading the other Navigators residing within the rest of the fleet's ships to follow his route.[1][2] In the fleet the Warp Guide alleviates the burden of the rest of the navigators, making most of the decisions for them regarding matters of translation and overseeing the route safety.[3]

While navigators on their own are able to track vessels of interest,[4] following the Warp Guide vessel is done thanks to short-lived psychic beacons done at the behest of this vessel's astropaths,[5a] increasing its visibility in the warp up to 10 light years.[5b]
