Neh'Tar
Neh'Tar was Chapter Master of the Salamanders in the early 900s.M41.[1]
In 938.M41[2], Neh'tar led an expedition into the southern fringes of the Maelstrom with the aim of reclaiming worlds from the grip of the Warp and establishing Astronomican relay shrines. Accompanied by warships of the Imperial Navy's Battlefleet Badab, Imperial Guard army groups, and Sisters of Battle preceptories, disaster struck as soon as the force passed into the Maelstrom's borders. Insurrection erupted aboard the navy ships and traitors annihilated vessels carrying the Salamanders allies. Amidst the anarchy, Red Corsairs warships ambushed the Imperial fleet and boarded Salamanders vessels. Neh'tar was then slain personally by Huron Blackheart.[1]
In the aftermath of the disaster, over a dozen Salamanders prisoners were taken, but a handful of survivors were set free to take a message back to the Imperium that the Maelstrom was the Blackheart's domain.[1]
