Obloxxothrax
Obloxxothrax is a Great Unclean One of Nurgle.[1]
History
In M42, the Greater Daemon spread the Retchpox on the Imperial Feudal World Malaeor. From a single victim, the disease began to spread dramatically across the backwater province of Piety's Promise, despite the world's medical corps knowing how to cure it. This was due to the Malaeor's ruling elite refusing to give their serfs access to modern technology, which in turn caused them to view its usage as being the sole domain of the God-Emperor. They fiercely resisted the treatment because of this and their village priests fed the flames by promising healing through flagellation and prayer. Matters further escalated when several victims of the disease that were under the care of a priest named Frater Kalimund, recovered without receiving any of the medics' aid. He claimed the plague was a test of faith and preached that the world's population should turn away from the false promises of heretic healers and barons, and instead make the pilgrimage to Kalimund's shrine in Promulga Valley. The Frater planned to cure all who attended, but on the day this was to occur, he suddenly erupted in front of his congregation while on the seventh verse and seventh lines of his oration. From Kalimund's remains rose Obloxxothrax who gave his own blessing that caused the Retchpox's victims within the Valley to be devoured by the disease.[1]
This turned their remains into liquid corpse-slop, which turned the region into a lake of filth. The 98th Mordian Iron Guard later arrived there, after having been sent by Malaeor's Imperial Commander to stop Frater Kalimund and his followers, but the Regiment saw nothing but the liquid, which began to sicken them. Obloxxothrax would then emerge from it, at the head of an army of Nurgle's Daemons and they easily overran the Mordians. From there, the Great Unclean One led his host across Malaeor and the world began to be infected and changed by the Chaos God's might. While the Imperium's forces on Malaeor fought back as best they could, this was not a war that could be won with their weapons. By the time the world's distress calls were answered by a Salamanders strike force and the Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus, it seemed they could do little to save Malaeor. Yet still they joined the fight, for just as a single Retchpox sufferer had begun this pestilent nightmare, so to could Malaeor not be allowed to be but the first of many worlds to suffer Obloxxothrax's plague.[1]
