Operation Greywater was a joint operation between the Ordo Xenos of the Inquisition and the White Scars Chapter. Its mission was to destroy several of the T'au Empire's warships and capture a number of the Xenos' Water Caste dignitaries alive, so that they could be studied.[1]

History

It was the brainchild of Inquisitor Enyar, who began the Operation by contacting the T'au Empire. Once he did so, Enyar claimed he wished for peace between the Imperium and the T'au, who agreed to meet with the Inquisitor. Each came to a designated area of space and the Inquisitor proposed the meeting itself take place aboard the T'au ship Shi Ko'vash.[1]

In order to succeed in capturing the Water Caste diplomats he was to meet with, however, the White Scars Scouts of Squad Gatughan accompanied Enyar as part of his retinue. They posed as his personal bodyguards and advisors, while in a hangar bay Enyar's Inquisitorial Storm Troopers stood watch over the Valkyries the group had used to board the Shi Ko'vash. The ship was protected by an armada, but a hidden Imperial fleet lay in wait nearby and would attack during the meeting itself in order to provide the Inquisitor and Squad Gatughan with a distraction. Though the T'au had insisted on there being no weapons present during their meeting, this proved little problem for the Scouts when the fleet's attack began. Acting quickly, they used their superior physical strength to kill the Fire Warriors escorting the Water Caste diplomats, as the Storm Troopers did the same to the T'au forces in the hangar bay. Though they attempted to escape, the diplomats were captured and brought aboard the Valkyries by Squad Gatughan, who had killed many of the Xenos who barred their path to reach it. Once Enyar, the Scouts and their prisoners were brought aboard, the Valkyries made their escape, as the Imperial fleet and the T'au Empire's armada fought each other.[1]
