Orbital Defence Cannons, also known as Orbital Guns, are massive weapons built on the Imperium's worlds, which are designed to fire into space.[1]

Description

They must charge up before firing and are capable of punching large holes through spacecraft. Due to the weapons' power, if multiple Cannons fire on the same target they can cause it to explode. The Cannons are located in a world's Planetary Defense Bases, which contain four of the weapons. These bases also house a control room which gives the Cannons the command to fire, as well as a building that holds the targeting system the weapons rely on to aim. Should the Cannons reach a zero state of charge, then the control room is used to direct power to them. Though it will take time for their Machine Spirit to be functional once more. Also if the weapons' targeting system is jammed, then it will need to be manually reset for the Cannons to properly fire. This will require someone raising the petals of a satellite dish, that is located on the roof of the targeting system's building. The dish is surrounded by four mechanisms, whose wheels will need to be turned in order for the reset to occur.[1]
