Polino was a Captain of the Deathwatch, originally hailing from the Imperial Fists Chapter.^[1]

Biography

Polino led a Kill-Team that was sent to a Desert World contested between the Imperium and the Tau Empire. The kill-team found that the Kroot reinforcing the Tau soliders on the planet had developed traits indicating that they had undergone hybridisation with Tyranid genes; in an engagement with one of these Kroot-Tyranid hybrids, Polino was severely wounded.^[1]

Making their way back to their Thunderhawk to make a stand in a defenceable position, the kill-team was surrounded and attacked by the hybrids. During the fighting, Polino succumbed to a sus-anic coma.^{[Note 1]} Although he survived the incident, thanks to the actions of his kill-team, his fate afterwards is unknown.^[1]

Conflicting sources

• Note 1: In the short story Machine Spirit, Polino survives being badly wounded by entering a sus-anic coma. However, some sources state that, due to a mutation of the Chapter's gene-seed, the Imperial Fists lack the sus-an membrane (the organ needed to enter such a coma).^[2]
