Charge packs, also called las-packs,[1c] lasgun cells,[3] or power packs,[3] are the ammunition power source for many Imperial las weapons.[1a] Hotshot laser power packs are an alternate form of power pack used for hot-shot las weapons. Some trade-offs for the increased power is a bulkier pack that is more stressful on the gun.[1b] They are also more expensive to make and harder to charge.text-middle[Help]

Overview

Lasgun and a spare charge pack[1a]

A major advantage of las weapons is the rechargeable power cells of their charge packs. Las charge packs can be refilled by connecting them to most Imperial Standard power sockets. These can also be recharged through exposure to light, heat, and even naked flame, however, doing so shortens the pack's lifespan and risks upsetting the weapon's machine spirit.[1a] A wet charge pack can cause a las weapon to short circuit when attempting to fire.[4]

Placing a these power packs around a campfire overnight is an old Guardsman trick that can recharge a few extra shots overnight. Some of the more puritanical tech-adepts readily decry this unsanctioned behaviour, if witnessed, as placing power packs dangerously close to an open flame risks damaging the valuable internal components.[2]

The Industrial World of Capriac is dedicated solely to producing Mk 18 high-yield lasgun cells.[3]
