The Praetors of Ultramar are an Ultramarines Successor Chapter and one of the ten Shield Chapters of Ultramar.[3]
History
The Praetors of Ultramar were drawn from the Unnumbered Sons Primaris Space Marines created during the Ultima Founding at the direct order of Roboute Guilliman and were created after the conclusion of the Indomitus Crusade. They have fought alongside battle-brothers from many other Chapters and learned respect for their fellows' methods. Thus, they undertake sanctioned studies of other Chapters' strategies, seeking a broader context by which to best understand the Codex Astartes.[3]
They were among the Imperial forces that were led by Guilliman as he came to the Realm of Ultramar's aid during the Plague Wars, and were later among the ten Ultramarine Successor Chapters that were charged with permanently defending Ultramar. To that end, Guilliman has granted them the world of Howsbridge.[1]
Later, they sent all of their available forces to contribute to the Ultramarian Reclamation even as they were understrength (10% garrison strength) and were initiating new Aspirants.[3]
