Rahe's Paradise,[1c] also known as Lsathranil's Shield for the ancient Eldar device on the planet,[3] is an Imperial planet[1c] and former Exodite World.[3]

History

In ages past, the planet suffered the "Great Conflagration" (a long period of desertification) and its refugee Eldar population fled to Craftworld Kaelor.[4] The world was repopulated by Humans[1b] roughly ten thousand years ago in which time the Farseer Lsathranil of Craftworld Ulthwé constructed the artefact known as Lsathranil's Shield.[1a]

The Eldar tome known as Ishandruir,[1a] or The Awakening[2] written by Lsathranil and translated by Father Librarian Jonas Urelie detailed a prophecy of the return of the C'tan and Necron forces to the planet, for which the device Lsathranil's Shield was constructed and must be maintained.[1c]

Farseer Macha of Biel-Tan saw a vision of the failure of the device and rallied the Swordwind to invade the planet in late M41 in order to maintain the device,[3] putting the Eldar in conflict with the Blood Ravens Space Marine Chapter before ultimately working together with Gabriel Angelos to prevent the shield from shattering,[1b] failing after the catastrophic destruction of an Eldar Dragonship unleashed a psychic cry which destabilized the shield allowing a Necron Lord to awaken from the planet.[1d] With the intervention of the remainder of the Swordwind, which had previously diverted to Lorn V to destroy Orks following a prophecy from Taldeer, the Necrons were defeated in the system.[3]

The planet was once home to the Caradoch[3], a furry quadruped which lacked the faculty of suspicion that had become extinct even before the flight of it's Exodite population. The term Caradoch was used as an affectionate name aging eldar among the exodites prior to their refuge, and eventually became a loanword among the Eldar of Craftworld Kaelor to refer to those who are out of touch.[3]
