Rahz Obek
Rahz Obek was a captain of the Firedrakes unit within the Salamanders Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[2a]
History
Obek was among the warriors of the XVIII Legion chosen to act as a member of the Firedrakes and later became its captain, rising to prominence as one of the senior officers of the Salamanders during the later Great Crusade.[2a]
Equipped with Terminator armour, the Firedrakes acted as shock troops and strategic reserve, deployed against the most heavily defended objectives.[1] Under Obek’s stern leadership they earned a reputation for discipline and an unyielding advance. He interpreted Vulkan’s teachings in uncompromising terms, believing that humanity could only be protected through strength and absolute devotion to duty.[2a]
At Isstvan V, during the Drop Site Massacre and the betrayal of Horus Lupercal, Obek and the Firedrakes formed a defensive bastion around Vulkan.[2b] After the primarch was struck down by a nuclear blast and disappeared, Obek survived the devastation, rallied scattered survivors and refused to accept that his father was truly dead, helping preserve cohesion within the shattered XVIII Legion.[2c]
