Rardan Secundus is an Imperial Frontier World located in the Rardan System. It is scarred by deep mineral-rich quarries, bizarre fungal forests, and ancient Vilmori xenos ruins.[1]

History

Founded less than two centuries ago, Rardan Secundus was still a developing world when the Noctis Aeterna plunged the Imperium into darkness. Explorers uncovered ruins suggesting that Rardan Secundus was once part of an exceedingly ancient alien empire of the Vilmori.[1]

When the Days of Blindness struck, cults dedicated to these xenos emerged, using remnants of their strange technology to wage war against Imperial settlers. Their tactics were sinister and inexplicable, striking with stealth and leaving no bodies behind on the battlefields.[1]

The conflict escalated when horrific twisted beings — amalgamations of xenos machinery and human flesh — began attacking Imperial forces. These abominations sowed terror and confusion among the defenders, who believed them to be the creations of the heretical cults.[1]

The Astra Militarum garrison on Rardan Secundus later discovered the true source of the nightmare creatures: a Drukhari Haemonculi Coven known as the The Sinew Insidious. The Coven was secretly experimenting on both cultists and Imperial dead, twisting them into grotesque hybrid war-beasts.[1]

The abominations were hurled back onto the battlefields of Rardan Secundus, their eviscerated forms used as raw material for Haemonculi fleshcraft. These experiments prolonged the war, as soldiers faced not only the cultists but their own corrupted comrades reshaped into monstrous weapons.[1]
