Rudran Luc is an Inquisitor.[1]

History

In M42, he was set to investigate the Imperial world Persiphon, after whispers circulated about a deviant religion growing within its six Halls of Excellence. These Halls trained Persiphon's highly rated Guardsmen and competed against each other to be judged the best at doing so. Before Luc could even begin his investigations into them, however, astropathic distress calls rang out from world. They declared that a civil war had broken out between the Halls and that Xenos monsters were also preying upon Persiphon's population. Luc would then learn that an Ultramarines strike force, led by Captain Aurus, was being sent to end the war. Yet the Inquisitor suspected something more insidious was at work, and raced to join Aurus' force before it reached Perisphon. He would succeed in doing so, but Luc's worst fears were realized, when the Inquisitor and Captain reached the world. Perisphon had been invaded by the Daemons of Slaanesh and their interrogation of remote data-augurs revealed how the competition between the Halls of Excellence, to train the best Guardsmen, had turned sour and plunged the world into a shockingly savage civil war. The need to achieve victory, later led each of the Halls' war clerics to appeal to dark powers and caused the Daemons to invade Persiphon.[1]

Chief among them were six Keepers of Secrets, who each ruled a realm from a corrupted Hall of Excellence. Seeing such Heresy led the Ultramarines to launch an attack and on Captain Aurus' orders, his forces separated so they could strike at different parts of the world. Luc would stay in orbit and listened with growing dismay as Persiphon's debauched insanity converged on the outnumbered Space Marines. He also watched the weave of the Warp thinning on the world and realized a huge Daemonic incursion threatened to appear on Persiphon. In response to this, Luc had his Astropaths immediately send an encoded summons to the Grey Knights, as the Chapter's strength would now be needed to defeat the Daemons.[1]
