Sanctifiers^[2]

The Sanctifiers are a bands of Ecclesiarchal militiamen, pilgrims and Cherubs, who are fanatically dedicated to protecting the Imperium at all costs.^[1]

History

These Frateris Militia rally under Ecclesiarchy officials (often a Confessor) in time of crisis, differing them from the standing armies of the Sisters of Battle. Any faithful, from Preacher to Scribe, are open to joining and taking part in Holy War. What they lack in military training and tactics, they make up for in zealotry and fury. Casualties amongst Sanctifier warbands are normally quite high, but their crazed savagery has nonetheless won many a vital victory for the Imperium.^[2]

Besides their normal leadership under a Confessor, it is common to see experienced Missionaries fighting as the elite of a Sanctifier warband.^[2]
