Biography

Sandor Galleas fighting Orks during the Invasion of Rynn's World.

Slave on Blackwater

Galleas is from the planet Blackwater. His mother was captured in a raid, and gave birth to him in the slave pens, then left for some reason he does not know. He lived as a slave and was put to work cleaning; he fought the children of his master and tried to escape several times. When he was 12 years old, he snuck out of the slave pen and followed the clans to the Festival of the Burning Fist. When the children gathered for the trial he went to the front and demanded the right to join. The clanlords started to attack him but one of the Crimson Fists ordered them to stop, and said that he would prove his worth in the trial. He participated and was the only child to survive the last trial. Pedro Kantor, at the time Captain of 4th Company, proclaimed him one of the chosen. Kantor even gave him his new name.[1d]

Early Career

As a novitiate Galleas was trained by Captain Rigellus, and studied how Tauros instigated Ork infighting on Cephalon.[1c] After becoming a battle brother he served in 4th Company as a Tactical Marine under Kantor. Galleas considered Kantor a mentor, and he was taught much about how to fight Orks.[1a] At some point he served with the Deathwatch[2]

Galleas and the Crimson Fists fought on Beryl Ultra against Ork forces led by Snagrod as part of a greater Waaagh! led by the Arch-Arsonist of Charadon. During the campaign Galleas and a squad handpicked by Pedro Kantor were sent away to the ship Duchess Hespera, after Inquisitor Anatol Volk requested ten of his best. The mission was Galleas' first independent command since taking charge.[2]

The inquisitor was trying to lure and capture Haxan the Defiler, a member of the Red Corsairs. Galleas made their strategy based on what he would do in an ambush, and had his forces split between the bridge and the engine room. When Haxan attacked, Galleas defended the engine room before moving on to the bridge where his brothers fought. After defeating Haxan he learned that he was a former Crimson Fists Captain. Haxan claimed that Volk's master committed crimes which is why he killed him. Furious at being lied to, Galleas executed Haxan in front of the Inquisitor in clear defiance of what he asked.[2]
