Sanguinala is an Imperial religious holiday.^[1]

Perhaps the most revered day on the Imperial Calendar, Sanguinala commemorates the sacrifice of the Primarch Sanguinius.^[1] The great primarch's shrines glow with the festivities^[2b] and prayer services are held.^[2a]

• Within the Warhammer 40,000 community and fandom, Sanguinala is often parodied as the in-universe equivalent of Christmas.^[1]
• The name "Sanguinala" itself has its origins in the Roman feast Saturnalia, which was said to be a major influence in the formation of the Christmas holiday.
