Sanguinala
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Sanguinala is an Imperial religious holiday.[1]
Perhaps the most revered day on the Imperial Calendar, Sanguinala commemorates the sacrifice of the Primarch Sanguinius.[1] The great primarch's shrines glow with the festivities[2b] and prayer services are held.[2a]
Trivia
- Within the Warhammer 40,000 community and fandom, Sanguinala is often parodied as the in-universe equivalent of Christmas.[1]
- The name "Sanguinala" itself has its origins in the Roman feast Saturnalia, which was said to be a major influence in the formation of the Christmas holiday.
