Sapphon
Sapphon is the present Grand Master of Chaplains and High Interrogator[2] in the Dark Angels Space Marine chapter. He also has the special title of Finder of Secrets.[1]
It is said that Sapphon did not achieve his Grand Mastery from age or ability as an Interrogator (Asmodai is his superior in both these things) but due to his ability as an inspirational leader.[1]
Biography
Sapphon was present for the interrogation of Astelan by Interrogator Chaplain Boreas. He was in the interrogation chamber the entire time, but used a trick to misdirect Astelan's eyes and focus on other things to conceal his presence. At the end of his interrogation Astelan spoke of how the darkness within Lion El'Jonson was within all the Dark Angels, Boreas then stood up and asked Sapphon if he was done. Sapphon told Boreas he had done well, and earned a black pearl for his rosarius, revealing his presence to Astelan at last. He had two guards enter and restrain Astelan, then informed him that he would be brought to the deepest recesses of The Rock, and hear Luther's cries, confirming that he was still alive and held by the Dark Angels to Astelan. When asked why he was doing this he replied "Knowledge is power, guard it well."[3]
