Shorvale 477th Armoured Infantry
The Shorvale 477th Armoured Infantry is an Astra Militarum Regiment raised from the planet Shorvale.[1]
History
The regiment was among those that were committed to the invasion of the Chaos Knight World of Dharrovar.[1]
After they landed on Dharrovar, the Shorvale 477th's first engagement was at Wyvarch Pass. The regiment was part of an Imperial force tasked with holding the valley against a charge of Chaos Knights. The Imperials held the pass long enough for Aeronautica support to arrive and turn the tide of the battle, after which the force's armoured elements led a countercharge that forced the enemy Knights to retreat. However, the Imperials took significant casualties, including the Shorvale 477th (according to one Guardsman, as much as 60% of the regiment).[1]
The Shorvale 477th was later deployed to help hold the Mortenburg Line against a massive Chaos attack. In the middle of the fighting, the Imperials received news of two regiments of delayed reinforcements were inbound. When they landed, however, the "reinforcements" turned out to be heretics. Caught between the existing Chaos attackers and the heretics advancing from the rear, the 477th took heavy losses.[1]
