Shouty Boxes are Ork communication devices, that were created by the Bad Moons Mekboss Da Meklord and they are able to receive Weirdboy psychic messages from across interstellar space.[1]

Description

The idea came to the Mekboss, after Da Meklord learned of the Imperium's usage of Astropaths as he led his Tekwaaagh!. However Da Meklord felt the usage of two Astropaths was a waste and so instead decided to split a Weirdboy's brain in half in order to perform the same function. While these operated on Weirdboys would remain on the Mekboss' flagship, Mork's Hammer, the other half of their brains would be installed within the Shouty Boxes. The devices were then given to the Warbosses and Bosses that served him, as they led their own forces within the Tekwaagh!. This, according to Da Meklord's thinking, was more efficient than the Imperium's Astropaths, as it would be as if the Weirdboy's brain was talking to itself. As a result of this, though, the Shouty Boxes can not be used to send messages back to the Mekboss.[1]

In appearance, the devices look like metal-shaped Ork's heads and contain microphones within their mouths. They are also hooked up to all manner of wires and other contraptions, which bubble and blip at irregular intervals. When Da Meklord sends a message through one of the operated on Weirdboys, it travels to the other half of their brain housed within the Shouty Boxes. This causes the devices to activate and the Mekboss' message will emerge from their speakers. A switch on the Shouty Boxes can also be used to have them repeat the last message the devices have received. The Tekwaagh! Boss Ufthak Blackhawk was given a Shouty Box, but he does not keep it near him. For reasons that are unknown, the device's presence makes him extremely uncomfortable, so the Shouty Box is instead kept by Blackhawk's Mekboy, Da Boffin. When the Da Meklord sends a message through it though, Blackhawk will get near the device so he can hear what the Mekboss has to say.[1]
