The Skirmish of Conduit P9.2030-208[1a] was fought between Banecats loyalists Vex and juve Kyra against Morenn's Crew.

Background

Tessera, the Underhive leader of the House Escher affiliated gang The Banecats had called a meeting in neutral territory. Veteran Vex and juve Kyra go through uncontested, but treacherous terrain. A hive quake caved in the ceiling on Kyra, who was pushed aside at the last moment by Vex, who fell several feet. While Vex was unflinchingly loyal, Kyra asks several questions, but dutifully followed Vex's directions. They managed to regroup just as they were confronted by Morenn.[1]

Morenn claimed that Tessera was going against the Matriarchs and risking their gang getting exiled[1b] (something that might be true, as it is later revealed that Tessera is willing to risk her gang for her prize[1c]) – though Quorri later says Morenn's motivation was to wrestle leadership of the gang[1d] – and asked Vex to return with her to their old territory. Vex refused and challenged Morenn to get out of her way, and Morenn fires first.[1e]

Aftermath

Morenn died in the skirmish and her companions, Quorri and at least one unnamed Banecat followed Vex to the meeting as they acknowledge Morenn's failed takeover of the gang and thus that the status quo before Morenn's actions was reinstated.[1d] However, unbeknownst to them, Morenn's body was scanned by a servo-skull under the control of Black Ash. Black Ash would continue trailing the Banecats to their meeting place and attack them there.[1f]
