Space Marine Command Council
A Space Marine Command Council is usually formed when two or more Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes find themselves fighting side by side. In such circumstances, the leaders of each convene a council where they elect a common representative to speak for their interests. The representative is a warrior that commands the greatest respect and admiration amongst the assembled Space Marine leaders, and who is entrusted the ultimate command of the combined forces of the Astartes assembled.
When it is part of an even larger force, a Command Council normally ratifies the Warmaster's orders and act on them as they see fit. Astartes serving in a Warmaster's forces have also been known to pursue their own objectives. Occasionally, a Space Marine Command Council will decide not to ratify a Warmaster's command and may even openly disobey them. As such, it takes a very special kind of leader to command the respect of the members of a Space Marine Command Council, and being able to do so is the supreme vindication of a Warmaster's skill and authority.[1]
