'''Valhalla''' is an Imperial [[ice world ]] classified as a [[Civilised World]]¹², famous as the home world of the [[Imperial Guard]] [[Valhallan Ice Warriors|Valhallan Ice Warrior]] regiments.

When it was first settled, Valhalla was originally a verdant [[Paradise World]]. No records survive world of its colonisationforests and broad fertile plans, but legends recall a paradise compared to the frozen ice world ripe for conquestit would become. UnfortunatelyIn legends, Valhalla was destined for something else. It was hit by a gigantic comet. The defence lasers surrounding the planet blasted the comet, but only succeeded in breaking it up. Later, it was found history that the comet was made survives of almost pure iron, explaining why the lasers were so ineffective. The comet impacted in the vast ocean spanning most early days of the planet but a mile-wide fragment impacted the northern continentits colonisation, creating vast plumes of dust which proceeded to cover the planet in Valhalla was a blanket of dirt. Also, the planet's orbit was changed, moving it farther away from its star. This change in the amount of warmth and light altered the planets ecosystem, changing the planet to an [[Ice World|icy wasteland]]world perfect for human settlement.

The people struggled to make a livingTen thousand years ago however, fearing famine due to a lack of viable farmland. The the planet was struck by an immense comet was bad, but not to be which forever destroyed the end paradise of their sufferingthe world. A damaged [[Ork]] warfleet descended on The defence lasers surrounding the planet and proceeded to fight had blasted the Valhallans for the food they had stored. They held out bravely for a long time comet with shot after shot, but only succeeded in their vast [[hive]] cities beneath breaking off fragments of the ice but were pushed right back comet which was found to the food vatsconsist of almost pure iron. After a ferocious battle, they destroyed A mile-wide fragment of the Orks by using ice boring machines to strategically strike at the heart of comet struck the mobnorthern continent, burning causing great earthquakes and melting destruction. The main comet hit the vast ocean which spanned most of the Orks and scattering the restplanet.

Valhalla is still an ice world but The boiling seas, and the pall of vapour and dust blocked off the sunlight. The temperature of the planet fell to freezing levels. Most significantly the comet had knocked the planet from its orbit, and over a period of ten years the planet spun eccentrically, drifting fifteen million miles away from its sun. By this point the planet had entirely changed. The vast majority of life had been destroyed, and the whole planet was covered in glaciers and a frozen ocean. The people are still hanging on grimlystruggled to survive, providing materials for producing food in extensive nutrient vats of slime. As the threat of starvation seemed to be passing, a new threat appeared. A fleet of damaged [[ImperiumOrk]]space ships had been cast through the warp to the ice world. The Orks descended on the planet and proceeded to fight the Valhallans for the food they had stored. They held out bravely for a long time in their sub-glacial cities but were pushed back to the food vats. The battle looked hopeless for the humans. The defenders held out long enough for Valhallan engineers to use their ice-boring machines to bore through the ground beneath the Orks. The tide was turned as the fiery ice-melting machines ran amok among the Orks, burning and terrifying the Orks. The Valhallans took the offensive and cut down any Ork which had not been burned or melted.
