Though they are versatile, they are slow to move across the battlefield but once they meet [[close combat]] their strength and speed easily overwhelms many of the common units available to most armies, especially if armed with some of the more deadly close combat weapons. Also, due to their amazing abilities, they tend to shrug off all fears and do not hide from or evade the vast waves of enemy fire.
Another theory as to the origins of Obliterators is the theory that they are Space Marines (usually Techmarines) who have utilized the powers of Chaos to obtain a greater understanding of technology, and to further their own powers through hybridizing technology with their own bodies (which, as a result, leaves them hideously deformed, and able to fabricate weapons from their flesh).<sup>3</sup>
