The Lord Commander Militant is the senior member of the Imperial Guard in a specified region(with the exception of the Lord Solar and the Warmaster who govern a wider region of space). This man (or woman) generates suprememe respect over the troops he/she commands. The Lord Commander is selected usually a member of a high up family within the region of the Imperium which some criticise as being too much of a ploitic appointment and not a selection of a trooper who has served and earned the rank well.
