The '''sagas''' of the [[Space Wolves]] [[Chapter]] chronicle their history and lore. Unlike other [[Space Marine]] Chapters they preserve the past through oral tradition rather than in written form.
The Space Wolves' custom of memorizing past events in sagas originates from the traditions of the native tribes of their homeworld [[Fenris]].<sup>3</sup> It is the responsibility of the psychic [[Rune Priest (Space Wolves)|Rune Priest]]s to memorize these tales. Each of the Chapter's twelve [[Great Companies]] has its own history which is passed to aspiring Rune Priests as they move from one Company to another in during their training.<sup>2</sup>
