The '''Rubicon''' is a space marine strike cruiser commissioned by the [[Ordo Malleus]] for the [[Grey Knights]]. It was built using alloys and construction techniques that cannot be reproduced. The Rubicon served as the strike cruiser for acting [[Brother-Captain]] [[Alaric]] while he searched [[The Trail of Saint Evisser]] for the daemon [[Ghargatuloth]]. It was destroyed in the atmosphere of the planet [[Volcanis Ultor]] after sustaining heavy damage. Both Imperial ships [[Unmerciful]] and [[Holy Flame]] were unable to stop it from reaching the planet's atmosphere. The ship was finally destroyed by the [[Absolution Beta]] when it was rammed, both ships were destroyed.<sup>1</sup>
It is named after the Rubicon, a river in Italy. The phrase 'crossing the Rubicon' has come to mean reaching a point of no return, in reference to Julius Caesar's crossing of it in 49 BC to invade Rome.
