Prior to the Heresy, Astelan was stationed aboard the [[Spear of Truth]]. He was known to have clashed with fellow Commander [[Belath]].
He held the rank of [[Chapter Master]], and helped train newly-recruited [[Dark Angels]]. When Luther declared [[Caliban]] free from the clutches of the [[Imperium]] Astelan, after a brief, inner conflict sided with [[Luther]].
===Post-Heresy===
After the [[Horus Heresy]] and the fall of [[Caliban]], Astelan was sucked through the [[Warp]] and scattered throughout the galaxy like the rest of the Fallen.
