In 6990999.[[M41]] in a cruel repetition of the horror of the Gothic War, Ornsworld came under attack from the [[Knights of Blood]] Chaos renegade chapter. Over ninety percent of the planet's population was massacred before Imperial Guard reinforcements arrived.<sup>2</sup>
During an invasion of Ornsworld by [[Abaddon]] (wither whether this is one of the above mentioned attacks is unclear), Haupstemmler Keep was the last bastion of defiance from defence for the Ratlings. [[Chaos Sorcerer|Chaos Sorcerers]] were brought in to breach the keep's walls and [[adamantium]]-clad gates with a penetrative vortex spell. However, certain key words of the spell were mispronounced and it spiraled out of control. Detonating catastrophically and engulfing the Chaos army, it turned three thousand of their own warriors into [[Chaos Spawn]]. Part of the north wall was also leveled in the magical mayhem, and the new horde of mutating flesh fell upon the defenders, soon overwhelming and taking the keep. Even now, hundreds of years after Abaddon left the world, rogue spawn need to be hunted and killed in summer beast hunts.<sup>3</sup>
