The Oberon class battleship is an incredibly rare vessel, it was an early variant of the Emperor class which it was succeeded by. It was concieved as battleship that could theoretically deal with all manner of threats without needing escorting vessels. Its superior sensors allow a degree of situational awareness unparalleled by other capitol ships, detecting Enemy Vessels long before they are aware of the battleship’s own presence. This factor alone makes it an excellent Patrol or Guardship for whole sectors, able to manoeuvre for best advantage and pass out information to other vessels in the vicinity. An Oberon Class if well drilled and handled is a formidable opponent and has the potential to defeat any Vessel it may encounter.

The ship's array of weapons batteries is enough to be able to cause damage at long range, and with the aid of the lances, could probably cripple a cruiser-sized ship in short order. The attack craft meanwhile could either close in for the kill, protect the Oberon itself, or engage other targets.<sup>1</sup>
