==The Necron Monolith in the 41st Millennium==
A Monolith is monumental vehicle, constructed from the same [[living metal]] as all other Necron vehicles. It fulfills the roles of transport craft, armoured destroyer and Necron power icon, sowing terror and destruction as it ponderously moves across the battlefield. The large crystal at its centre pulses with a sickly geen light, as when it uses its Power Matrix used to power both activate either its ordnance weapon system (the Particle Whip) and or the dark portal that can open in its frontal section to allow for the to transport of other Necron units.<sup>3</sup>
The first wave of a Necron assault often consists of Monoliths being teleported to a planets surface to act as a bridgehead for invading forces, who deploy through the Monoliths' portals.<sup>3</sup>
