'''Guardians''' are the militia of the [[Eldar]] [[Craftworld]]s. In times of peace the Guardians pursue their normal civilian roles. All Eldar however are trained in warfare and can be called to arms if their craftworld is threatened. This is just one of many examples proving that the eldar are without a doubt one of the most advanced and prepared races in the 40k universe. As the number of dedicated warriors - [[Aspect Warrior]]s - in a craftworld are simply too few, Eldar dedicated to a civilian [[path]] serve as Guardians in battle, forming the bulk of the Eldar armies. Guardian forces consist of two main types - the tactically flexible '''Defenders''', and the more assault-oriented '''Storm Guardians'''. Both are equipped with basic light weight [[mesh armour]].

'''Storm Guardians''' are armed with a potent combination of Shuriken pistol pistols and [[chainsword]]lethal close combat weapons such as chainswords and witch blades.

'''Black Guardians''' form the bulk of the Ulthwe standing army. They are more highly-trained compared to standard Guardians but are arranged in a similar manner, consisting of both Defender and Storm units. Tactically, they make heavy use of the [[Webway]] which allows them to appear anywhere on the battlefield, seemingly emerging from nowhere. this gives the element of suprise and to the more primitive races such as orks is seen as nothing short of magic. Other forces of the Black Guardians include [[Eldar Jetbike|Black Guardian Jetbikes]], [[Vypers]], [[War Walkers]] and [[Support Weapon Batteries]].
