Like his fellow 'volunteers' in the [[13th Penal Legion]] the man now known as 'Grease Monkey's name, and background are all classified. Originally a member of the [[Imperial Guard]] Grease Monkey was a highly skilled driver as well as mechanic, much to the chagrin of his units [[Tech Priests]]. While his tinkering may have eventually put him in the same position he finds himself now, it was his decision to take a grav-vehicle belonging to the ambassador of the [[Iyanden]] Craftworld that landed him on the [[penal colony]] [[Devlan 5]].<sup>1</sup>
Grease Monkey's talent with vehicles serves him well in the 'Last Chancers'. Capable of driving virtually any vehicle known to humankind as well as hot-wiring and repairing them, he is able to get the team out of many a sticky situation in a hurry. When not behind the wheel Grease Monkey is armed with a bolt pistol.<sup>1</sup>
