:It should be noted that "Vanus" in latin does not only mean "Empty". Vanus -a -um can mean "empty/void", "vain", "idle", "worthless", "meaningless". When refering to a person, it can mean "ostentatious", "boastful", or "unreliable." The Vanus Temple can just as easily refer to a temple that is ostentatious in the execution of its tasks, much in the over-the-top vein Gav describes.
