Hive Fleet Behemoth was the first major Tyranid Hive Fleet encountered and defeated by the Imperium. The ensuing war became the known as the first of the Tyrannic Wars. The Hive Fleet was eventually destroyed in 745.M41, by the combined might of the Ultramarines, the White Scars, and the Imperial Navy2.
Coming from the eastern side, Hive Fleet Behemoth invaded was the first Ultima SegmentumTyranid. It is likely that the Tyranids were drawn Hive Fleet encountered by either the AstronomicanImperium or , and was also the first contact the psychic presence of Imperium had with the EmperorTyranid himselfs as a race. ThankfullyBehemoth made a juggernaut rush into the Galaxy from the Eastern Fringe and proceeded into Ultramar, resulting in what became known as the Tyrannic War. It was eventually destroyed at the Battle for Macragge stood in its way745.M41.1a
The first documented attack was upon the outpost of ==History==TyranImage:Tyranids incursions. It overran jpg|thumb|right|Behemoth's path into the isolated outpost of galaxy from the Adeptus Mechanicus with overwhelming force, and stripped the world of all lifegalactic south-east. Other Hive Fleets are also shown. By the time Inquisitor Kryptman arrived, to investigate the strange planet-stripping phenomenon, it was already too late.
However, Early warning signs of the Adepts apocalyptic threat of Hive Fleet Behemoth came from an Explorator census of the planetary systems on the Adeptus Mechanicus managed to gather vital information. Before being overrun, Eastern Fringe surrounding Magos TechpriestTyran Varnak, gathered information into a data codex and hid it undertaken in a bore shaft, some 3000 meters below the planetpreceding decade before Behemoth's surfaceinvasion. Planets known to have been full of life were discovered reduced to lifeless, hoping that barren rock without even any living bacteria. These mysterious new Dead Worlds were reported to the Explorator General but nothing came of it would be recovered later by the Imperium. The outpost on Tyran also filed its own reports of discovered dead worlds, but no help was sent.1b
Analyzing Hive Fleet Behemoth attacked from the galactic south-east of the Eastern Fringe without warning and ploughed wildly into the recovered informationgalaxy, Inquisitor Kryptman managed ruining hundreds of Systems and devouring everything in its path. Compared to warn later Hive Fleets which adopted different strategies, Behemoth showed no subtlety in its berserker advance. Eventually its onslaught used more biomass than it could replace and it all but consumed itself in the Imperium. Honoring an ancient tradition process of naming invading alien forces, by giving them a name from great beasts from ancient myth, this Hive Fleet was designated as Behemothbreaking the Imperial defence at the Battle for Macragge.1a
===Tyran===The first documented attack was upon the outpost of Tyran. Hive Fleet Behemoth overran the isolated Mechanicus were quick to react, and the newly appointed Grand Master, Marneus CalgarExplorator Basewith overwhelming force, deployed and stripped the Ultramarine fleet to stop world of all life. A data-codex recording the Tyranid Hive Fleet at invasion was stored deep below the base's command bunker and was recovered almost a year later by garden worldInquisitor of PrandiumKryptman , a far- sighted Inquisitor who had been dispatched to investigate the jewel reports of Ultramarunexplained dead worlds. Analyzing the codex, with gardens and forests of such amazing beauty and craftsmanship Kryptman realised the grave threat that it was considered one of entering the galaxy and became determined to warn the Imperium. Being the Wonders of first time the Imperium - had encountered a world that new alien race, they were named after the Ultramarines were duty bound to protectplanet Tyran.1b, 2
It was a slaughter. The tactics and strategies decreed by the ===Occulus===Codex AstartesOcculus, was an moon-sized observator station caught in Behemoth's path as it pushed onwards past Tyran. The station was a tome of knowledge created bio-artefact claimed by Roboute Guilliman, did not succeed against the Tyranids. The harrying strategies of the Ultramarines could not inflict enough damage against the Tyranids - Imperium nine thousand years earlier and the close-range passes for optimal firepower favored the Tyranids even morewas devoured, since their spore cysts and even clawed tentacles would burst or tear open many of the ships that went in on the attackalong with its crew.1a
The Ultramarine fleet had to sacrifice Prandium. For a week Marneus Calgar went without food or water while meditating on the matter. When he came out of his trance-like state, he told the Ultramarines that they had been guilty of the sin of pride. The Codex Astartes ===Jagga=== Jagga was written for the home to Space MarineOrk Freebooters, known as the Space Marines were not created for the Codex AstartesStar Krumpas. They would have to adapt and develop new strategies and tacticsTheir considerable Kill Kroozer fleet, even weapons, if they were to be successful against the Tyranid menace. Hit and run raids were abandoned in place of concentrated defenses and static firepower. This meant that once the Ultramarines had to choose a place major threat to defendlocal shipping, and they chose their fortress monastery on Macraggeput up a great fight against Behemoth but was eventually destroyed.1a
===Thandros===The fighting was intense, and every marine System of the ChapterThandros contained a Telepathica Matrix was deployed to defend the planet. Millions of orbiting Mycetic SporesThandros I were destroyed by the planetary defenses, yet millions more got through which boosted astropathic signals and reached the planetallowed intragalactic communications. Around Kryptman, after discovering the frozen northern laser batteriesfate of Tyran, Tyranids bodies stacked 10 deepattempted to send a message via this Telepathica Matrix. But he couldn't get through. In desperation he ventured to Thandros and found it destroyed. So corpse-covered was Kryptman managed to salvage the ground, in fact, that one walked on them, and not on Matrix so it could project the frozen soildata-codex along with his own report. The entire Ultramarine First CompanyOrdo Xenos replied with orders to travel to Macragge was wiped out and assist in mounting a defence against the alien fleet. The Ordo Xenos, as dictated by Imperial tradition, also named the invading alien fleet after an ancient and forbidding legend - an enormous lossBehemoth.2: p.8
In space, Kryptman ===Solemnace===Solemnace is a Necron Tomb World that was able to discover a weakness of in the Tyranid fleets: one path of the Tyranid's two minor tendrils. Striking as hard as possibleNecrons, and losing many ships in eventually the process, the Space Marines were able tendrils lapsed into hibernation after finding themselves unable to destroy the Tyranid Fleetpinpoint any nutrient-rich prey worlds.1a
Unknown to ===Prandium===Prandium, known as the Ultramarines the Hive Fleet of Behemoth was "jewel in reality separated into two forcesUltramar's crown", leapfrogging each other was as they gorged on the worlds they invadedeasy conquest for Behemoth. They only had been able to destroy half The luscious Agri-World was stripped of the enemyall life.1a, 2 The Tyranids were so thorough that even Prandium's strengthatmosphere was consumed for what ever biomass it contained. However the arrival of Battleforce Tempestus, the major Imperial fleet of the entire The Segmentum TempestusUltramarines brought much needed reinforcements. Still, led by Dominus AstraMarneus Calgar, flagship mounted a defence of Battleforce Tempestusthe planet, was sacrificed in but had to sacrifice Prandium. For a collision into week Marneus Calgar went without food or water while meditating on the bulk matter. When he came out of his trance-like state, he told the Ultramarines that they had been guilty of the Tyranid fleet while its warp engines sin of pride and that they would have to adapt and develop new strategies and tactics, even weapons. Hit and run raids were set to overloadabandoned in place of concentrated defenses and static firepower. This sacrifice allowed meant that the Imperium Ultramarines had to claim victorychoose a place to defend, and they chose their fortress monastery on Macragge.Cite This
===Sybari===Behemoth went on to absorb Sybari, a Fortress World that served as the secret stronghold for the Death Shadows Renegade Chapter.1a ===Battle for Macragge===Battle for Macragge Marneus Calgar declared that the Hive Fleet would be halted at Macragge. Forewarned of the impending Tyranid attack by Inquisitor Kryptman, the Ultramarines fortified their Homeworld's already formidable defences. In the inevitable assault the defenders blew apart countless waves of Bio-vessels as they speed towards the planet, but with every wave more and more Mycetic Spores managed to break through to the planet's surface. Calgar, on the planet's surface, attempted to slow the Tyranid onslaught and buy time for the vital polar fortresses of Macragge to be further fortified. At the battle of Cold Steel Ridge the Swarmlord, the Hive Mind's deadliest servant, was dispatched to deal with Calgar. The arrival of this unique beast infused the Tyranids with a keen strategy that coupled with their animalistic nature. The Swarmlord bellowed a challenge to Calgar and charged directly towards his position. The Ultramarines recovered Honour Guard could not stop the Swarmlord from renting, tearing and gravely wounding Calgar. Just in time, Thunderhawk Gunships arrived to evacuated Calgar to the Battle Barge Octavius in orbit above Macragge. Cold Steel Ridge was taken by the Tyranids, leaving the path to the northern polar fortress clear.1c, 3 Arriving on Octavius, Calgar took command of the surviving Imperial fleet. Macragge's space defences had been all but destroyed by the Tyranid fleet. The Tyranid ships, having delivered their full strength only after 100 yearscargo of spores, broke orbit and turned away from Macragge. Calgar pursued them to the ringed world of Circe where the Tyranids revealed a second fleet concealed amongst the planet's rings. However reinforcements from the Tempestus Fleet dropped into Real Space and viced the Tyranid fleet in. But still the Tyranid's had superiority in numbers, until the Emperor Class Battleship the Dominus Astra valiantly charged into the heart of Hive Fleet Behemoth and detonated its Warp Drives, creating a cataclysmic vortex that sucked both it and only the entire Tyranid fleet into oblivion. The Tyranid fleet now is destroyed, Calgar's forces made haste back to Macragge where all contact had been lost with the Chapter Banner polar fortresses. The 3rd Company landed on the northen fortress and pushed into the subterranean tunnels to find them littered with Tyranid and Ultramarine bodies. Within the lower penitorium, they found a circle of Terminators laying dead where they had fought back to back and made their last stand. The entire 1st Company of Ultramar allowed the Ultramarines had been killed to the last man defending Macragge.1c, 3 Behemoth's threat to the galaxy had ended, but the Hive Mind had sampled a significant amount of new biomass and gained experience of how the galaxy's defenders tactically operate. It would also be born onto battle againyears before its creatures were scoured from Macragge and before the Ultramarines and Ultramar could replace all their losses.1c, 3
