Towards the end of the war, a [[tech-marine]] of the Black Templars, at the command of Grimaldus recovered an ancient [[mechanicus]] weapon from a secret facility in the desert, after disabling the myriad defences and traps around the machine and awakening the machine-spirit. Enlisting the (reluctant) help of the other mechanicus forces within the city, the templar fired a single shot from the machine, destroying a huge enemy [[gargant]] called Godbreaker before retreating from the city.
The destruction of ''Godbreaker'' allowed imperial forces to hold out against the orc ork hoard and await reinforcement. And, although in excess of 90% of the defenders were killed, they were successful.
