The Iron Warriors did not successfully destroy their bitter enemy. Source material conflicts on this point, with one source claiming while Perturabo could have destroyed his hated once-brother-Legion at any moment, he did not do so because he so much relished in their torture,<sup>3b</sup> while another source claims that the Iron Warriors lacked the faith to sacrifice what was required to completely destroy the Imperial Fists.<sup>1b</sup>
What remained of the Imperial Fists was a hardened, veteran force willing and able to comply with the [[Codex Astartes]], just as [[Rogal Dorn|Dorn]] had intended. The Legion was then split into at least four Chapters, including the [[Crimson Fists]], [[Black Templars]], and [[Soul Drinkers]].
The Iron Warriors escaped and in exchange for forfeiting the captured loyalist [[progenoid|gene-seed]], Perturabo was raised to [[Daemon Prince|Daemon Princehood]].
