The Lar'shi Class Starship - codenamed "Hero" - was born out of the Damocles Gulf Crusade. During that conflict, the Tau had been shown first-hand where the Kor'vattra was lacking, and attempted to design a ship that could match the Imperium's Lunar Class Cruiser. Though this attempt failed, the vessel that resulted was nonetheless a credible ship of the line.1
The most advanced As a purebred combat ship , the Lar'shi is significantly more effective in the a straight-up firefight than its Gal'leath and KorIl'vattrafannorpredecessors. In its primary Vash'ya configuration, the Lar'shi (or Hero) was borne out packs a great deal of firepower in the form of a forward Gravitic Launcher, a forward Railgun turret, two launch bays for Damocles Gulf CrusadeBarracudas and Mantas, designed to match the Imperial and a pair of Ion Cannon cruiser turrets, the latter of which are replaced by slightly weaker but longer-ranged Railgun batteries in direct battlethe less-common Tolku variant. IndeedBoth versions are protected by a Deflector that enhances their forward armor, it shares many similarities with the Imperial design, featuring allowing them to survive a reasonable prow torpedo strength, and an armoured prow head- albeit the Tau use deflector technology on confrontation that allows them to artificially strengthen the hull bring their weapons' overlapping fields of their ships rather than physically mount more material onto the hullfire to bear on an enemy.1,2
