As with many other types of weapons in the [[Dark Eldar Armoury]], the '''Dark Lance''' employs
a sophisticated, superior technology far beyond our understanding. This technology is a
little bit similar to the laser weapons used by other races, but instead of a high-energy laser
beam, these weapons fire a beam of some kind of a ''dark energy'', or ''dark matter''.
The source of this dark matter is yet to be found, but some scientists say, that it may be the
product of yet unknown activities in black holes, warp storms and other kinds of dangerous
celestial phenomena. This beam of dark matter (or energy) reacts catastrophically with any target it
hits, completely annihilating everything in a high energy blast, tearing apart heavily armed vehicles
like toys, and vapourizing enemy soldiers in a microsecond.
The Dark Lance is a long-range heavy weapon. It is extremely effective against heavily armed
vehicles, as their thick armour provides absolutely no protection against the energy beam.
In the game, the threat caused by this weapon is emphasized by a special rule that reduces
the effective Armor values of heavily armed vehicles.
