Known Lasgun Patterns
*Mars Pattern (Mk III short lasgun) - this seems to be a fairly generic lasgun. 60 shots per power pack, medium damage, a decent range and the ability to fire 'single shots' or 'semi auto'. It doesn't seem to be capable of varying it's shot intensity. *Kantrael Pattern (M36 Kantrael short lasgun) - another fairly average lasgun. Distinguished from the Mars pattern in that it is slightly heavier but able to fire variable shots. It gets 60 shots per power pack, but the Munitorium Manual says it can get 150 from each pack; this may be explained by the variable power setting. It's not clear how fast it can fire - some sources say it is semi- Standard lasrifle used mainly automatic, other that it is capable of fully automatic or burst fire. Used by Cadians and Cadian Shock Troops3Troopers. *Mk4 Catachan Lascarbine'Galaxy' Pattern (M35 Galaxy) - apparently the basic lasgun design introduced in the 35th millenium, from which many others are presumably derived. The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer describes a 'M-G short pattern lasgun', but the stats given seem rather unlikely- it is described as weighing 2.3kg (while most other sources give weights of 3to 5kg for most lasguns) and firing in 'full automatic' mode at 220 shots per minute (which is very slow for a fuly automatic weapon). *Mars 'Catachan' Pattern Lasrifle (Mk 4 lascarbine) - Jouran Dragoonshas a shorter casing (and possibly a slightly shorter barrel) than the Kantrael. Presumably a bit lighter, making it better suited for the jungle fighters. No information on it's range, rate of fire or power. *M35 M'Tanith' Pattern (Mk III lascarbine) - looks quite a lot like the Catachan pattern (on the miniatures -Galaxy3the fourth ed. codex illustration looks closer to the Kantrael pattern), maybe with a slighly longer barrel. Capable of variable power shots and fully automatic fire. Shares the Mk III designation with the Mars Pattern, but it doesn't seem to be the same weapon. Original Tanith ones have Nalwood stocks, but later recruits seem to have essentially identical ones with different stocks, indicating that the Tanith ones are probably just a copy of a common pattern. *MkIV Accatran pattern used mainly Pattern (Mk IV lasgun) - a bullpup configuration weapon. Apparently quite light. Apparently medium power (19 mt, like the Kantrael Pattern) and fairly accurate, but not capable of automatic fire. Has 50 shots from a power pack. Used by Elysian Drop Troops3Troopers. *Lucius Pattern (No. 98 Lasgun) - has very little casing and a slightly longer than usual barrel. Has a stock grip rather than the more familiar pistol grip found on most other patterns. Fires quite powerful shots (21 mt) but isn't capable of automatic fire and only gets 25 shots to each power pack. Used by the Death Korps of Krieg. *Necromunda-pattern lasguns Pattern - manufactured on Necromunda, capable of more rapid fire than the Mars pattern, but only gets 50 shots to a power pack. Used by a House Escher Ganger. *Number 98 [[Lucius_Triplex Phall Pattern - capable of firing variable power shots, the highest setting being considerably more powerful than the Mars Pattern. Gets 60 shots to the pack. Seems to be functionally identical to the Kantrael Pattern, although I have no idea what it looks like. *Voss Prime Pattern - a compact lascarbine with a folding stock. Used by the Armageddon Steel Legion, presumably because it is handy for carrying inside a Chimera. A very similar looking weapon comes on the IG tank accessory sprue, possibly indicating that it is a popular weapon with vehicle crews. *Ryza Pattern (Ryza-M) - has similar performance to the Mars pattern, but only gets 50 shots to a power pack and weighs considerably more (7kg). The only advantage seems to be that it is cheap and common. *Solex Pattern (Solex IX 'Death Light') - a rare weapon from the Calixis sector. Fires a powerful, armour piercing blast, but only gets 18 shots to each power pack. Described as being 'compact', but weighs more than any other lasgun described (7.2 kg). *Roth Pattern ('Lightning') - a bullpup weapon from the Calixis sector. Lightweight and low powered, but highly accurate. Gets 60 shots to each power pack. Otherwise seems similar to the Accatran Pattern. *Minerva-Aegis Pattern (ForgeworldM-A Lascarbine)|Lucius]] - a small, lightweight weapon which has little power but a high rate of fire. Gets 40 shots to each power pack. *'Tallarn' Pattern (Lasrifle4) - only seen on Forge World Tallarn models. A long weapon (possibly a long-las) with an old fashioned stock. Other Tallarn models and illustrations show a variety of weapons, most looking fairly similar to Catachan pattern ones. *'Athonian' Pattern (Double-Las) - an unusual looking weapon with two barrels, but only one power pack. Sometimes called 'lasburst', the weapon is noted as being powerful and capable of rapid fire, but unreliable and getting few shots from each power pack. *'Vostroyan' Pattern - looks somewhat like a musket with a power pack attachment and a las barrel. *'Kaledon' Pattern - seems to have mostly wooden furniture, but has a pistol grip. Power Pack looks like it loads in the top. Large perforated 'barrel shroud'. Other types of lasgun: Long-las - a generic term for any long barreled lasgun. Most seem to be converted from one of the above patterns by adding better sights and a longer barrel. Hotshot Lasgun - either another name for a hellgun, or a lasgun (usually a long-las) loaded with a non-standard power pack which gives more powerful shots. Laslock - a non-standardised weapon constructed in small numbers. Basically the las equivalent of a breech-loading rifle. Powerful, but cumbersome and only gets one shot before it needs to reload.
