The Hydra is a specialised mobile anti-air vehicle often seen defending important sites and columns from air assaults. Its autocannons are controlled by advanced tracking and targeting equipment and an automated turret, meaning it will track enemy aircraft with little difficulty. This combined with a high rate of fire often means the aircraft is doomed. Demand for Hydras always exceeds supply and they are often seen deployed with separate tank units. Many artillery (especially the [[Basilisk]]) units have a Hydra or two permanently attached.

The Hydra is armed with 2 twin-linked long barreled [[Autocannons]] on an AA mount and a hull-mounted [[Heavy Bolter]]. It may also be upgraded with [[Camo Netting]], [[Extra Armour]], a [[Hunter-killer Missile]], [[Improved Comms]], a [[Mine Sweeper]], a [[pintle-mounted]] [[Heavy Stubber]]/[[Storm Bolter]], a [[Rough Terrain Modification]], a [[Searchlight]], [[Track Guards]] and [[Smoke Launchers]].
