The Hydra is a specialised mobile anti-air vehicle often seen defending important sites and columns from air assaults. Its autocannons are controlled by advanced tracking and targeting equipment and an automated turret, meaning it will track enemy aircraft with little difficulty. This, combined with a high rate of fire, often means the aircraft is doomed. Demand for Hydras always exceeds supply and they are often seen deployed with separate tank units. Many artillery (especially [[Basilisk]]) units have a Hydra or two permanently attached.
Sometimes when there are no available Hydras , [[Exterminators]] are used instead, or [[Chimera]]s with autocannons mounted on their tops. After artillery, HQ units are the next most important to defend, but these are usually defended by platforms rather than mobile versions. Additionally the Hydra has also seen use in mowing down infantry units and lightly armored vehicles.
