A '''Chapter Master''' is the foremost leader of a [[Chapter]] of [[Space Marine]]s. He is assisted in his position of leadership by the Chief [[Librarian]] and a [[Chaplain]] in most cases. A Chapter Master possesses centuries of battle experience and is invariably highly skilled in tactics, leadership and all kinds of combat.

The Chapter Master is responsible for maintaining the traditions of the Chapter. He is often the [[planetary governor]] of the Chapter's Home world and recruiting worlds[[Adeptus Astartes Homeworld|homeworld]], giving him further responsibility.

The title "Chapter Master" is not consistent throughout the Imperium though. Some Adeptus Astartes and less standard Chapters use different titles to denote the Chapter's leader. The most notable titles are: "Supreme Grand Master" (Dark Angels), "Grand Master" (various Chapters), "Great Wolf" (Space Wolves), and "High Marshal" (Black TemplarTemplars).

There are several famous Chapter Masters within the Adeptus Astartes. but in battle, no chapter master is greater then any other, for they are fighting for the same cause in the grander scheme of things. Chapter masters are Imperium; a useful resource. Though it is rare that a chapter master must set foot on the battlefield, for their experience and battle prowess can change the course of a battle in this war torn age within the howling battles of the 41st millenium.Millenium:
