Added Prandium's appearance in Age of Darkness and slightly altered the second paragraph to reflect the slight retconning of it's origins (Heresy invasion by World Eaters vs settled after the Heresy)
History
Prandium is a planet classified under Dead World and is part of the Ultramarines empire of Ultramar located within the Ultima Segmentum.1 Once considered the most beautiful world in Ultramar by members of the Ultramarines, Prandium was ravaged by a World Eaters invasion in the period immediately after the Battle of Calth as the Warmaster Horus' traitor legions invaded Ultramar. However the planet was saved by the actions of Remus Ventanus, Captain of the Ultramarines 4th Company, using an early version of the Codex Astartes. Although the World Eater's invasion force was successfully defeated, the battle left Prandium was left in ruins and a shadow of it's former self.2
Originally After the end of the Heresy, Prandium recovered becoming an Agri-World that supplied consumables to the rest of the Sector, Prandium was colonized by explorers from Macragge in the years following . Over time the Horus Heresy.Cite This The planet quickly reclaimed it's former beauty and once again became known as the "jewel in Ultramar's crown" and prospered prospering for thousands of years until attacked and consumed by Hive Fleet Behemoth in 745 M41.23
The current state of the former agri-world is one devoid of all life. The Tyranids were so thorough that even Prandium's atmosphere was consumed for what ever biomass it contained. The Ultramarines, led by Marneus Calgar, mounted a defence of the planet, but even the might of the space marines were no match for the endless tide of Tyranids and were forced to retreat to orbit. Over two hundred years later the Ultramarines still consider their failure at Prandium a great blemish on their honour.Cite This
