The Death Strike Missile Launcher is armed with a hull mounted weapon - either a [[Heavy Bolter]] or [[Heavy Flamer]] - and may also use several special improvements like other imperial tanks. Various Death Strike warheads exist in the form of High Explosive, Plasma, Biological, Incendiary, and the most rare and dangerous the [[Vortex Grenade|Vortex]] variant. The most common warhead used is the Plasma variant making it almost standard armament within the Imperial Guard. <sup>1</sup>
These launchers are capable of launching Vortex missiles which are considered doomsday weapons of apocalyptic capabilities as the warheads tear holes within the fabric of reality upon their explosion which creates a maelstrom of destruction which destroys everything it touches.<sup>5</sup> Normally, the Vortex weapons are installed within the [[Titan]]s of the [[Adeptus Mechanicus]] and functioned by creating a chained pocket of no-space, in essence a miniature black hole that was an anomaly of physics which sucks in anything into the annihilation of the [[Warp]]. They are an example of the rare vortex technology which the Imperium could reliable replicate but only in few numbers and even fewer were in use.<sup>4-p98</sup> Their rarity meant that Segmentum Command had to authorise their use as they are considered too valuable a weapon to actively deploy as their destructice capabilities can turn the course of an entire war. Furthermore, their cubersome nature and constant need for maintenance meant that they require constant protection where only Lord [[Commissar]]s are given the necessary launch codes for the Vortex Missile.<sup>5</sup>
