Can anyone cite a source for the section that says 'Even the High Lords of Terra and Adeptus Astartes, normally exempted from strict interpretation of the Inquisitorial Remit, are charged by Holy Edict to follow the Malleus Remit without pause.'? According to other sources, the Thorian Sourcebook for one, both the High Lords and Astartes are subject to Inquisitorial authority. --[[User:Kaled|Kaled]] 20:44, 24 May 2009 (GMT)
==Sources?==
I have some concerns over this whole new section:
"Within the Inquisition, the Ordo Malleus forms a secret order with a very specific role as they are daemon hunters. As such, it is their duty to root out sources of daemonic activity and combating such forces in whatever form they take. This means that only the most mentally stalwart and physically strong of Inquisitors are able to conduct this duty. Their missions can see them engage their foes either in hand-to-hand fighting or battle them in the realm of mental energy which requires special abilities and powers. This means that the Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus are mostly psykers and those who lack such abilities have tremendous mental resolve. As they are a hidden group, the identities of Ordo Malleus Inquisitors is kept imperative and this act is imperative though not easy to do when fighting daemons. When members of the Order must appear in the course of their investigations, they are allowed to adopt uniforms that hide their features which allows them to keep their true identities a secret.7-p31"
I don't have that book myself, so somebody with it would have to look it up. However much of this seems to be conjecture based on one page of a very old source. Is all of this explicitly stated in that source? And is there no more recent source for up to date information? A newer Codex or something?
Its just that it seems to me based upon the background material I've encountered that a lot of this simply isn't true, or is at least a little misleading in wording. All three branches of the Inquisition have very specific roles, for example. Further, all three branches are secretive to a certain extent, but they're hardly "hidden" given that Inquisitors are perfectly willing to show their hand if necessary to accomplish their goals. See also the huge damn fleet under the command of the Ordo Malleus in Retribution, they certainly weren't hiding when travelling around sterilising planets. And the assertion that most Malleus Inquisitors are psykers seems highly suspect at best. Further the idea that Inquisitors are "allowed" to wear uniforms seems completely at odds with the well established view of Inquisitors as highly independent individuals who have huge freedom to make decisions. An impression demonstrated fairly clearly in the Dan Abnett Eisenhorn and Ravenor books alone, to say nothing of Amberley Vail in the Caiphas Cain books or Inquisitors in other media.
If nothing else this section could use more sources for clarity, because frankly its quite at odds with most of what I've read however I'll be more than happy to admit I'm wrong if theres something I've not read somewhere. [[User:Exarch|Exarch]] 01:51, 12 June 2011 (CEST)
