A '''Frost Blade''' is an ornate type of [[Chainsword]] used solely by the [[Space Wolves]] chapter. Each one is hand-crafted by a Master [[Iron Priest]], and many incorporate the diamond-hard fangs of the [[Fenris|Fenrisian]] [[Kraken (Sea Creature)|Ice Kraken]]. They are highly sought after and in the skilled hands of a [[Space Marine]] they can be comparable in effect to most [[Power Weapons]]<supid="fn_1a_back">[[#fn_1a|[1a]]]</sup>.

A variant is the '''Frost Axe''', which incorporates the same elements. Frost axes are sometimes made from energized diamond, giving them the appearance of blades forged from pure ice.<supid="fn_1a_back">1b[[#fn_1a|[1a]]]</sup>.

[[Wolf Lord]] [[Ragnar Blackmane]] wields a Frost Blade<supid="fn_1b_back">2[[#fn_1b|[1b]]]</sup>. He received it while serving as a [[Wolfblade (Unit)|Wolfblade]], as a gift from the [[Celestarch]] of [[House Belisarius]], for saving Lady [[Gabriella Belisarius]] from an assassination attempt by a rival house. The blade was said to have been carried by the earliest Wolfblades, since the time of [[Leman Russ (primarch)|Leman Russ]]' original agreement with the House. It was formerly possessed by [[Skander Bloody-axe]], Ragnar's predecessor.<supid="fn_2a_back">[[#fn_2a|[2a]]]</sup>.
