The '''Volscani Cataphracts''' were a [[regiment]] of the [[Imperial Guard]], considered to be some of the most hardened fighters of the [[Cadian Sector]]. They remained loyal to the [[Imperium]] until the [[13th Black Crusade]] of [[Abaddon the Despoiler]] when during a welcoming ceremony to [[Cadia]] they revealed their true allegiance to [[Chaos]] and massacred the Cadian [[Planetary Defense Force|Interior Guard]] General Staff at the [[Battle of Tyrok Fields]]. Sending the shocked Cadian defenders reeling and rampaging across the fields of Tyrok, the Volscani hordes were only stopped by a swift counteroffensive led by [[Lord Castellan]] [[Ursarkar E. Creed]]. Slowly overwhelmed by the attack, the suicidal Volscani fought to the death.¹
